Olympic Champions set to light up Muju Taekwondowon 2025 World Taekwondo Grand Prix Challenge

MUJU, Korea (Aug. 20, 2025) - The stage is set for an exceptional showcase of Taekwondo as the Muju Taekwondowon 2025 World Taekwondo Grand Prix Challenge prepares to welcome the sport's finest athletes to Korea's premier Taekwondo destination on 28-31 August.

The prestigious four-day competition will see 334 elite athletes representing 30 Member National Associations (MNAs), plus Individual Neutral Athletes (AIN) and the Taekwondo Refugee Team (TRT), battle it out at the world-class T1 Arena in Muju Taekwondowon, the spiritual home of Taekwondo.

The competition promises to deliver world-class action with an extraordinary lineup featuring multiple Paris 2024 Olympic medallists. Tunisia's Firas Katoussi and France's Altea Laurin, both Olympic gold medallists, will feature alongside Uzbekistan's silver medallist Svetlana Osipova. Korea's Taejoon Park, who claimed Olympic gold in Paris, returns to compete at Muju Taekwondowon – the same venue where his international journey began as a rising talent at the 2022 Grand Prix Challenge.

The strong field is further strengthened by recent Charlotte 2025 Grand Prix Challenge medallists, including USA's CJ Nickolas and Brazil's Maria Clara Pacheco, ensuring fans witness the highest calibre of international Taekwondo competition.

Beyond the immediate glory of competition, the Muju Challenge serves as a crucial stepping stone as medal winners will secure coveted invitations to the 2026 World Taekwondo Grand Prix Series 2 in Paris, with a maximum of one athlete per MNA invited in each weight category.
