World Taekwondo President Meets with Brussels Mayor to Discuss the Future of Taekwondo in Belgium

 

BRUSSELS, Belgium (Mar 14, 2025) – World Taekwondo President Dr. Chungwon Choue, currently visiting Belgium for the Belgium Open Taekwondo Championships, met with Brussels Mayor Philippe Close at Brussels City Hall on March 14. Also present at the meeting were WT Council Member Mr. Driss El Hilali and representatives from the Belgian Taekwondo Federation.

 

During the meeting, President Choue and Mayor Close discussed the development of Taekwondo in Belgium. Mayor Close expressed his interest in hosting a major World Taekwondo Championships in Belgium in 2030 to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Belgium’s independence, underscoring the importance of Taekwondo’s growth in the country.

 

The Belgium Open Taekwondo Championships is an annual international competition that attracts elite athletes from around the world. This year’s event takes place from March 15 to 16 at the beautiful Soeverein Arena in Lommel, featuring competitions in both Kyorugi and Poomsae.
