  • Promoting sport as a powerful vehicle towards peace, social development and integration of vulnerable populations;
  • Uniting forces in offering sport for development and peace activities, in particular in THF’s existing Humanitarian Taekwondo Center in Azraq Refugee Camp, Jordan, and potentially other locations worldwide;
  • Exchanging and sharing of expertise, know-how, information and publications.

After the signing ceremony, Dr Choue said: “I am thrilled that World Taekwondo and the Taekwondo Humanitarian Foundation are collaborating with the International Hockey Federation and The Hockey Foundation on advancing the livelihoods of refugees.

Last year, we installed artificial turf at the Humanitarian Taekwondo Center in Azraq, Jordan. Through this MOU, we look forward to organising exciting joint projects focused on bringing improved health and happiness to the children and young people in the center.

The MOU that we have signed today is truly an important milestone. It goes to show that, with the right partners, we can go a long way in delivering hopes and dreams to those who need it most.

On a personal note, I am very pleased that five Olympic sports – wrestling, table tennis, badminton, judo, and now hockey – have joined the call to join our humanitarian activities. We will strive to establish more partnerships in the coming years thanks to the Olympic Sport Peace Corps.”

“I am delighted that FIH and The Hockey Foundation have concluded this Memorandum of Understanding with World Taekwondo and the Taekwondo Humanitarian Foundation. I truly believe that sport is a catalyst for social change. Uniting forces to foster development and peace through sport is a very positive step. We’re looking forward to working together”, said FIH President Dr. Narinder Dhruv Batra.
