SEOUL, Korea (May 9, 2023) - The renowned World Taekwondo Demonstration Team continued to amaze spectators from around the world as they put on an unforgettable show at the AIPS Sports Media Awards Ceremony.
A total of 20 Demonstration Team members performed in perfect unison under the theme Taekwondo Spirit, demonstrating a variety of powerful and exhilarating Taekwondo techniques. The audience were left in awe by the team’s breath-taking acrobatics and gravity-defying stunts which have become a hallmark of their performances and seen them gain worldwide recognition. The demonstration team has got to the finals of both America’s and Italy’s Got Talent, and has performed at iconic locations such as Vatican City and the United Nations Headquarters while promoting a powerful message of peace.
The AIPS Sport Media Awards Ceremony is the latest high-profile event the team has performed at and offered recognition to the very best sport storytellers across all media platforms.
The ceremony took place at the Sofitel Ambassador Seoul Hotel & Serviced Residences and was held on the occasion of the AIPS Congress which is being held in Korea for the third time in 12 years (2011 and 2017).
AIPS was established in Paris, in 1924, as L'Association Internationale de la Presse Sportive, by Games Press Chief, Frantz Reichel, and the Belgian, Victor Boin. AIPS is committed to enhance the cooperation between its member associations in defending sport and the professional independence of journalism. AIPS works to defend the common interests between sports journalists of all nations, with the purpose of assuring the best working conditions for sports media professionals. The first Congress was held in July 1924, with 29 nations present. Today, AIPS represents more than 9,500 members worldwide.
