RIYADH, Saudi Arabia (Dec 11, 2022) - World Taekwondo President Chungwon Choue met with Saudi Arabian Sport Minister HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki AlFaisal to discuss about the development of Taekwondo in the country as well as promoting peace initiatives.
President Choue appreciated the Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee for supporting the successful organisation of the World Taekwondo Grand Prix Final and also congratulated the remarkable progress of Saudi taekwondo athletes.
They also discussed on the upcoming sport events in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as well as hosting of more Taekwondo events in Saudi Arabia in the coming years.
HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki AlFaisal received an honorary 7th dan from President Choue and Kukkiwon President Dongsup Lee. The Sport Minister also received an honorary 9th dan on behalf of the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, HRH Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, who was having a summit with international and regional leaders. The Sport Minister conveyed the appreciation of the Crown Prince and Prime Minister to President Choue.
President Choue also extended an invitation to the Sport Minister to attend the World Taekwondo Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan, in late May of 2023.
The meeting took place at the Ministry of Sport on the occasion of the World Taekwondo Grand Prix Finals and Gala Awards, which for the first time included Para Taekwondo athletes.
