THAILAND GRABS 2 GOLD MEDALS ON 2ND DAY OF 2ND WORLD CADET TAEKWONDO CHAMPIONSHIPS

Thailand took two gold medals on the second day of the 2nd World Cadet Taekwondo Championships in Muju, Korea on Aug. 24, 2015, while Korea, France and Germany clinched one gold medal each.

 

In the male -33kg weight category, Korea's Kang-min Kim brushed aside a stiff challenge from Iran's Amir Valipour to win the final match 5-3 for the gold medal. Uzbekistan's Jasurbek Zokirov and the Philippines' Wendil Jay Rama shared the bronze medal in the same category.

 

In the female -41kg final match, which took place at the T1 Arena of the Taekwondowon in Muju, Thailand's Ploylapus Chaiprasit beat Iran's Setareh Chaboki 8-6 to earn his country the gold medal. The bronze went to Ukraine's Viktoriya Sobko and Turkey's Derya Esme.

 

In the male -37kg final match, Thailand's Ratchapon Senghaphan defeated Mexico's Jorge Fonseca 21-17 to earn his country the gold medal, the second of the day. Great Britain's Mason Yarrow and Korea's Chan-yeong Lee had to settle for the bronze medal each in the same weight division.

 

In the female -47kg final match, France's Ines Mehnana beat Russia's Elizaveta Andriianenko 8-6 for the gold medal. The bronze went to Turkey's Ahsen Sengun and Mongolia's Namuun Boldbaatar.

 

In the male -53kg weight division, Germany's Muhammedcan Goekce won the final match 31-19 with a 12-point gap in the third round against Ukraine's Oleksandr Dziuba for the gold medal. Turkey's Anil Erkin Zeray and Mexico's Baldomero Gutierrez Pena shared the bronze medal in the same category.
